The European Champion filly Polonia, ridden by Pat Eddery, on the day of her unsuccessful attempt at the

Breeder's Cup Juvenile Fillies race in 1986 at Santa Anita.

Though she only placed ninth in the race, she looked every bit the champion even in defeat.

I love the way the Europeans present their horses, with neatly banged tails and refined tack.

 

This painting was displayed at the Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park

in the 2007 American Academy of Equine Art Juried Exhibition.
